Division By Zero

WTF happened to XKCD this morning?!

I thought the site had been hacked by an 11 year old stuck in stasis for the last decade. For anyone who doesn’t know what GeoCities is, it’s where the majority of the geeks you knew at school hosted their first websites, a) because it was free, and b) Geocities didn’t seem to mind when you uploaded quite a few MP3s for your friends to download. Not that I ever did that. Ever.

It kind of made me feel nostalgic, Randall has managed to capture pretty much every crappy thing about webpages back then, including Blink text and a Scrolling Marquee. And we really used to think they were cool too.

It’s almost a shame that all the webites I used to visit are gone now. At least I think they are, I can’t remember the URLs now.

I guess the days of sites with awful backgrounds, crappy animated gifs and pointless content are gone. Oh wait, MySpace – the nightmare lives on. Actually that would make a good horror film, better anyway than a stupid Facebook movie would be. God I hope that’s a joke and they’re not making it.

Just in case you missed it, and presuming Randall will be putting the site back to normal on Wednesday – I’ve taken a full page shot for you to see. Isn’t it awesome? Maybe we’ve entered a new age of Web design.

Actually, Randall I dare you to leave the XKCD site like that for the rest of the year. It would be a fitting tribute.

Oh and the strip’s quite good too, lol.
